great product/ phenomenal price
high current system, discrete circuitry, all around high quality (except the speaker wire & FM antenna). This system has all the necessary features while leaving out the expensive unnecessary bells and whistles
The 570 has many of the same high end onkyo technologies that go into onkyo's high end models. The receiver alone compares with $400-$500 receivers. Almost as though the speakers and powerful subwoofer are free. For what most of us need in a home theater system, this onkyo goes above and beyond. According to the manual the specs of 100 watts per channel are full bandwidth and not just at 1 Khz. Is rated to have more power than what many believe to be the identical standalone receiver (the tx-sr302).
the only potential cons that people seem to have is the speaker package not being up to par and that it is a 5.1 system as opposed to 6.1.
First of all, the incredible receiver and subwoofer that are included with the system would alone be worth more than the list price.
Furthermore, certain People (mostly the ones spending large sums of money on speakers and are needing validation) argue that the speakers do not deliver the loudness and quality that the receiver is capable of. While this is true, onkyo has designed these speakers with the receiver's low distortion and good signal to noise ratio in mind so that you can crank up the volume despite the low sensitivity level and still get minimal distortion with very little noise. (i.e. keeping the price down for the system while still providing great sound thanks to the quality receiver)
the included speakers are great with movies and music; however, if you want to get bigger quality sound for music buy a couple polk, infinity, etc. floor standing speakers or bookshelf speakers to have on the 'B' speaker setting that can be used with the 5 speakers or just with the subwoofer. This will blow away any other home theater in a box speaker set regardless of price.
Personally, I have found the included speakers to be more than sufficient. I've had this system for a month and a half and they've handled everything I've thrown at them (make sure to not have the decibal levels too high- this may strain the speakers, I've found the speakers work best around the +5 or +6 areas. they get exceptionally loud and clear at higher volumes regardless)
While a $500 speaker package would be an improvement I doubt the majority of people reading this could tell too much of a difference. If you have the money, get the $500 dollar system, however to the untrained ear there is a very small margin of difference between the sets.
as far as 6.1 goes, they are both good systems. It comes down to money. In my opinion having two good 100 watt speakers behind you will make alot of sound and to have an extra speaker behind you may not add too much to the effect unless the system is for a very large room.
